My research interests are in the following four areas:
Men's Health: Men's body image concerns, drive for muscularity, the male role and men's health, men's alcohol use, the male role and interpersonal problems, dimensions of the male role, and the male role and sexual behavior.
Social Psychology of Health: Stress and coping in high risk groups (e.g., police, EMS), gender differences in body image concerns, gender differences in health and health behaviors, stress-related drinking and its consequences, unemployment and physical health, and optimistic bias.
Gender Roles: Theories of gender role development, gender role socialization across the life-span, undesirable gender roles, gender role stereotypes, and gender role attitudes.
Media Influences on Health: Content and displacement effects on health, weight and physical fitness.
